One of the biggest challenges foe an up and coming actor is to try to get noticed. Your acting skills and your audition skills are very important but often casting directors don’t get to see you perform. It’s crucial to your career to be seen and get noticed by the right people and this is where a great actors headshot can save your bacon.
Without a headshot that stands out from the crowd how on earth do you expect to be noticed. Does your headshot look just like a thousand others?, is it the same style as everyone else’s? did you feel that if you went to the busiest headshot photographer you’d get a fantastic result? Are you a Sheep just like everyone else or do you have the courage to express yourself in your own way?
The answer to that is to realise that you are an individual actor or performer and have personality and charisma. The trick is encompassing those within your headshot and standing out from the crowd. This is where your relationship with your headshots photographer can make all the difference. Do they understand you and what you want? Do they have the time to shoot you properly? Are they actually interested in you or are you simply a number? By opening a dialogue with your photographer in the run up to your shoot you should be able to work out if this relationship is going to work.
Personal recommendation, personal contact and and the time to understand that you may need help and encouragement are critical in building a good strong working partnership with your headshot photographer.
