Casting directors want to see the real person they will meet in the audition room. Heavy retouching, extreme lighting or overly stylised images can create unrealistic expectations.

The eyes are usually the first thing viewers notice.

Clean lighting, natural expression and simple backgrounds usually produce the strongest headshots.
