Keep Your Headshot Up To Date

I like to keep up to date with what’s going on in the world of headshots, the news, what’s in ‘headshot vogue’ and with my main competitors.

I think it’s important to stay up to date on trends and styles and any innovations both here and in the USA.

The other day I came across a photographer’s website and, while checking out their work I saw a photo of someone I knew many years ago. To be honest I thought they looked great – in fact younger than when I knew them!

You Must Keep Your Headshot Up To Date

As I looked closer I noticed a significant amount of retouching  (human or AI, I couldn’t say).Keep your headshot up to date

Hmmmm… I thought what’s all that about?

I’m sure they don’t look like that in real life, and if they do, what’s their secret?

Joking aside, and this is a really important point when you are looking at your headshot. The question you have to ask is; does it look like me as I am now? Will the casting director recognise me when I walk into the audition room?

Be honest!

Why an actor should keep your headshots up to date. That’s the BIG question and it can be difficult to accept.

You still feel 25 but your face tells a different story – you’re actually 45 – your face tells your story!

I still think and feel like a man 20 years younger than I am. However, my face tells a different truth, and I use the word truth deliberately.

It’s tempting – especially with AI and the proliferation of retouching apps out there – to ‘tickle up’ your headshot and make yourself look better.

Don’t do it, you must be realistic, you must be authentic!
